Why Worship?

Why Worship?

Human beings have always asked: Why does God ask us to worship Him? Does He need it? Does He benefit from it? Or is worship meant for us?

These questions often rest on assumptions about God that simply don’t hold. To understand worship, we must first understand the One we worship.

01

God is beyond human limits

The Divine reality is not comparable to anything we know. Our minds cannot fully grasp the nature of God — just as we cannot grasp the full expanse of the universe or infinity. If we cannot comprehend God completely, we cannot critique Him using human categories.

02

God does not have human needs

We often project human motives onto God — imagining He asks for worship the way people seek validation or service. But God is not human and does not possess human needs.

The Creator of all existence is not sustained by His creation.

3. Worship is requested for our benefit, not His

God’s command to worship is not rooted in need but in mercy. Worship is a means of elevating, healing, and benefiting the human being. Like a doctor asking a patient to open their mouth — the doctor gains nothing, but the patient receives treatment appropriately.

03

WHY WORSHIP MATTERS

04

Only God is worthy of worship

If God is perfect beyond comprehension, the giver of every blessing — from the clothes we wear to the beating of our hearts — then worship is simply recognising reality: acknowledging the One who deserves it.

05

Worship fills the inner void

Human beings carry a spiritual hunger. When it is not filled with worship, it is filled with materialism, status, or endless selfpursuit — all of which leave us restless.

Worship brings peace, grounding, and meaning to daily life.

06

Worship is liberating

We are wired for purpose. We will serve something — desires, ego, society, or God. Worshiping the Creator frees us from being enslaved to inferior pursuits. Surrendering to God is the pinnacle of honour; surrendering to the powerless creation is demeaning.

07

God loves to hear from His creation

Prayer is a conversation between the human being and their Lord. God responds with mercy and affection to those who seek Him: “If My worshipper remembers Me in private, I will remember him in private… when he comes to Me walking, I will go to him running.”

08

Worship is the exam of life

Life is a test of virtue, and worship is the central question on that exam. Though tests involve difficulty, worship brings tranquillity and meaning that keep the worshipper devoted.

They taste its fruits in this life and are driven by them to succeed in the next. Though most exams must involve a degree of difficulty, the tranquillity worship offers and its meaningful nature keeps the worshippers devoted. They taste its fruits in this life and are driven by them to pass the exam in its entirety.

09

Conclusion

God loves to be worshiped — not because He needs validation or service, but because He loves the good that worship brings to us.

Worship aligns the human being with truth, purpose, liberation, and peace.

It is not a burden — it is a gift.
