Is the Qur'an God's Word?
Every device comes with a 'user manual' — not because we are not intelligent, but because the maker/manufacturer knows it best.
Human beings are far more complex than any device. So, it makes sense that our Maker too would not leave us without an instruction manual.
The Qur'an presents itself as that guidance: a message from the One who made us, knows us, and cares for us.
A Book Unlike Any Other
When the Qur'an was first heard in 7th century Arabia — a society that mastered poetry and language — something remarkable happened:
- The greatest linguists were stunned
- They could not imitate its style or structure
- They were dumbfounded with its unique literary and linguistic features
- They openly admitted its inimitability
The Qur'an challenged humanity to produce even one chapter like it. No one has ever succeeded — not then, not now.
Even to this day, experts of Arabic (Muslim and non-Muslim) recognise that the Qur'an's literary form is unique and unmatched.
If Not From Muhammad, Then From Whom?
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh):
- Did not write
- Was not a poet
- Had no formal education
- Lived in a society without libraries or scholarly institutions
Yet the Qur'an he recited:
- Introduced a completely new literary form
- Transformed individuals and societies
- Addressed law, ethics, spirituality, and the unseen
- Remains unchanged to this day
If the greatest experts of his time could not imitate it, and he himself had no training to produce it, then the question becomes simple: Where did it come from?
A Message Preserved
For over 1,400 years:
- The Qur'an has been memorised by millions
- Recited daily across the world by billions
- Preserved letter for letter
- Unchanged in its original language
No other book has this history.
A Message That Speaks to the Heart
Beyond its language, the Qur'an speaks of:
- Our purpose
- Our struggles
- Our hopes
- Our moral compass
- Our longing for meaning
It describes itself as:
"A guidance for humanity."
Chapter 2, verse 185A Simple Conclusion
If a book:
- Could not be imitated by the experts best placed to challenge it
- Came from a man who could not read or write
- Transformed the world
- Remains unchanged
- And continues to guide millions
Then the most reasonable explanation is the One the Qur'an gives: It is the Word of God.
In Its Own Words
It is the Word of God.
"This is the book in which there is no doubt, a guidance for the God conscious." Chapter 2, verse 2
"This is the Truth from your Lord…" Chapter 2, verse 147
